Solutions for Successful Aging

I just wanted to pass on the miracles of tea tree oil. I have been using it now for quite some time and I thought others of you may need to know this for the future of someone you care for. I started using tea tree oil when my cousin, who is an oncology nurse, saw the fungus that was growing under my mother's toenails. she suggested that I dab alittle tea tree oil with a q-tip swab onto and under her toenails everyday for 10 days. I will tell you that within a week it was gone. It was amazing. I have since used it on the beginnings of bedsores, her cradle cap which has started on her face and within her hair line, I use it in a room deodorizer, and anything that I think will benefit from this. Many times I have poured a few drops into the water that I bath her with and it helps the dryness and the skin flaking. My mother keeps her hands clenched together all the time and there has been some odor at times in the palms of her hands and around her fingers . Tea tree oil to the rescue mixed in alittle water. Not only does it solve the problem but it has a wonderful smell to it and freshens up the air. Just wanted to pass this along. God bless you all and have a wonderful and Happy Christmas.

That's very interesting...I'm going to start recommending that to my families!

Well, I found the information about tea tree oil so interesting since Mom has so many of the things that you said it was good for. I had my husband pick up some today and got a little carried away using it I guess! I put some on Mom's cradle cap, used Qtip under her toenails, and even treated her bedsore that she won't stay off of long enough to heal.

Then, she said "don't use that anymore it stinks!"

Well, it was worth a try. Thanks for the tip.
Maybe I will try again in smaller attempts sometime.

Oh, I think that you will see a big difference in the problems if you use it consistently for about a week. I should have added that if you bought the tea tree oil that is 100 percent then you should add some water to it. It will take the concentration down a bit and the smell will not be so overwhelming. I added some to my mother's water solution that I change her diaper with, and it did help heal her bedsore that she got about a week ago. It was not a real bad one that had split yet, but it was well on its way. Extremely red and just about to break through. I mixed about a tablespoon of the oil with a pint of water and it has really helped. The toe fungis stays completely under control and the cradle cap, my mother has that too around her forehead and behind her ears and down her neck, well, I added a tablespoon to her shampoo and it keeps it at bay. There is an oitment that I use from the drugstore, that the Hospice nurse prescribed and it clears it up when it grows on her face. There is one benefit I guess to my mother not being able to speak I guess, she is not able to share her opinion with me about her care. ha....... otherwise, I think I could be in for some real trouble daily from her.....ha.....Don't give up, tell her how much it will help her and dilute so that the smell is pleasing. I even put it in an electric room deodorizer to air out her room and everyone comments on how "spa like" her room smells. Thank you for writing. God bless you for taking care of your mother. I will be praying for you. To have a servant's heart is one of the greatest gifts of all that the Lord watches over. He will provide your strength.

Thanks so much for the info about diluting. Yes, I have often thought that I could take so much better care of her if she wasn't giving me instructions all the time in how and what to do. She can't hear me, but she dictates everything pretty much I do. Often that means she is repeating her demands over and over while I am preparing what ever it is because she can't hear me say "okay, Mom I am getting it". Have to be quick to keep from her being frustrated.

Anyway, I said a prayer for you today and hope that you and your Mom have a good Mother's Day. God Bless and Thanks so much.
